This 9 inch collectors plate is the the best I have ever seen. It is the 2nd plate of a set of only 4(four)of the 1980 Royal Cornwall Classic Collection by J.C. Leyendecker entitled - The Four Faces of Love. The total made is 17,500 sets of four limited edition plates. The edition number of this plate is 6223 and comes with a certificate of autenticity, and the original cash invoice of $49.86. This Plate is Hand Gilded with More Than Twelve Square Inches of Pure 24-Karat Gold. In creating this porcelain of kings, the artisans of Royal Cornwall start with pure white kaolin called "china clay" and was first discovered in Cornwall in the 1700's and is highly prized for its extraordinary whitness. Each plate is masterfully shaped, carefuly dried, and hard fired at tempertures as high as 1425 farenheit. The company claims that each plate is meticuulous inspected under high magnification,and if the most minimal flaw is found, the plate is destroyed and so recorded as such in the official Royal Corwall log. In the picture it is hard to make out the detail it is so intricate. It is a picture of Galhad and his Lady , riding a fully robed horse, and above a cupid looking over them.
